Felipe Lobón Domínguez’s passion for wine is deeply rooted in his Spanish heritage. Hailing from Caracas, Venezuela, Felipe’s love for wine reflects his family’s Asturian roots and their connection to the vineyards of the Iberian Peninsula.

His favorite wine region? Rias Baixas, known for its refreshing and highly mineral Albariño wines. However, ask Felipe about his go-to varietal, and you’ll likely hear a tie between Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Rieslings, and of course, Albariño.

One of Felipe’s most cherished memories? Enjoying Albariño while sailing off the coast of Galicia, accompanied by fresh seafood and the sound of waves crashing against the boat, all while feeding morsels to the eager seagulls overhead. He’s also a firm believer in the classic pairing of Albariño with oysters.

Beyond wine, Felipe’s interests extend to brewing craft beer. His background in brewing has enriched his understanding of fermentation and appreciation for artisanal beverages.

Outside of tasting, Felipe enjoys sharing his wine experiences with others, whether discussing wine-themed movies like “Bottle Shock” or exploring unique winemaker collaborations.

Felipe aims to obtain his WSET III certification and explore the vineyards of New Zealand’s South Island someday.
