Chef, Biker Jim’s Gourmet Dogs
In 2005, Alaska native Jim Pittenger, a.k.a. Biker Jim, was making a living repossessing cars. After having confiscated upwards of 12,000 vehicles, Jim decided that a change of scenery was in order, so he ditched his exotic life, bought a hot dog cart and starting slinging the city’s best wieners on a street corner in Downtown Denver.
With offbeat sausages made from reindeer, elk, rattlesnake, the mythical jack-a-lope and more, Jim’s unique take on street food quickly generated local, regional and national attention: He and his hot dogs have been featured in numerous prestigious publications—including Food and Wine magazine, Maxim, Details, Forbes, People and the Wall Street Journal. Jim’s first national television appearance was with none other than the late (and great) Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations. Since then, Jim has appeared on The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Ludo Bites America, Unique Eats, Food Paradise, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, and many other prominent television shows.
Jim continues to push culinary boundaries, delighting and surprising just about everyone who tries his creative take on the humble tube steak.
